September Highlights – A Month of Celebration

Now we are coming to the end of September I wanted to take a chance to reflect on the month. We, like many other parents all over the country, went back to school at the start of the month. Evangeline is now in Year One and has found it enjoyable but a big transition from reception. She’s struggled sometimes knowing that school is no longer a place to play, but also a place to work however I am so proud that she’s taken it in her stride.

At the start of the month we celebrated her sixth birthday and she had so many wonderful, thoughtful gifts from friends and family. It was lovely to see her so happy and a trip to Chessington with the family was fantastic.

The blog has done well throughout September, I’m proud of the sponsored content I’ve picked up on although it’s taken me a while to get into the swing of it as it’s all quite new to me! However I’ve been working with some fantastic brands lately and have really enjoyed the campaigns. I’ve done quite a bit of work promoting and getting back into linkys and trying to schedule tweets which has lead to my acheiving over 2,500 page views. That is a huge first for me so I’m really happy with that. In the last six months I’ve acomplished a better reach, engagement and views than I did in the first three years of blogging so I’m really proud of myself for that. My social media has been growing steadily too although I’d still like to increase my facebook engagement. It’s so tough to grow!

I’ve had a few nice little bits and pieces! Take a look at my Vlog below with my Lush unboxing video and mini beauty and stationary haul.

I started writing a novel. I’ve been using a really helpful guide book to help me zone in to a few new ideas and I have a few paragraphs sorted, character names and timelines. I’m really happy I’ve put some work into this recently, I’ve been feeling quite inspired.

Getting back into the school runs have been tough but I’m glad I’m walking again regularly and it’s helped me lose a bit of weight. Just need to get moving a bit more, swimming again and hopefully the weight will continue to leave my bones.

I’ve been loving Great British Bake Off and X Factor in September (guilty pleasure). Tv this time of year does seem to get better, probably because more people are home in the evenings. We’ve got through a lot of Box Sets and I am waiting for season four of Arrow to turn up on Amazon prime for free so I can see what happens next! I’ve also been playing Final Fantasy again! In the last few months I’ve completed seven on the PS4, including beating Ruby and Emerald weapon for the very first time! I’ve had the remastered versions of 10 and 10-2 so have been having a play at that and have introduced Evangeline to my favourite game series too. With the release of 15 being delayed I have even decided to give 13 a go again. I tried playing this when it first came out but it just didn’t work for me and I got bored. I’m enjoying it a lot more this time around and can give it a bit more attention and it’s not as hard as I remember…perhaps that’s thanks to easier access to guides and walkthroughs though.

final fantasty games, ps3 games

We are looking forward to half term next month, Evangeline is going to be with her dad for half of the week so Adam and I are thinking of getting in some very early Christmas shopping. We may extend this to a night away but we’re not too sure yet as we’re thinking of going away for my Birthday. Other than that it’s been a month for getting back into routines for us!

Have you enjoyed September? What are your highlights?

I don’t know how I’m fitting everything in either to be honest, I’m just glad that I do. I’m going for a Young Adult fantasy novel…at least that’s what it is right now!

  10. It sounds like you have had a fab September, I can’t wait to get my Christmas shopping started – though I usually have about half of it done by now! I just seem to have no inspiration this year. I hope you have a nice time if you do have a night away =) #KCACOLS

    1. I feel great knowing the majority of my shopping is done now, and anything else will just be little spontaneous gifts. I feel so organised!!

  11. Kayla Arnold says:

    1. I’m so excited for the next game in November! It’s been such a long time in the making. I now have a daily blog to do list which is helping but it can be a little overwhelming!

  16. Michelle says:

I love reflective posts like this. So nice to stop and measure all your special moments. I hear you on the Facebook engagement – I’ve thought about just deleting it. Good luck with the novel writing. I have no problem with the writing but I’m rubbish at editing, hence the many unfinished texts on my laptop πŸ˜‰ #KCACOLS

    1. Thank you! Yes I agree it’s a nice way to look back. Thank you, I’m pretty rubbish at editing too! I have a whole stack of ‘drafts’ to finish!

  19. Sounds like a wonderful September for you! So pleased you’re feeling in a good place blog-wise. I’m starting to feel like I’d like to start doing more collaborations, but it’s such a big step when you’ve not really done it before. My facebook engagement has taken a real plunge lately too – I used to get pretty good reach, despite my low follower numbers, but it’s pretty pitiful all of a sudden. #KCACOLS

    1. Thank you, I really am proud of how far I’ve come with the blog and all the awesome things I’ve learned and experienced since really giving it a go. I just cant work Facebook out to be honest!

Since it’s the last one with Mary, Mel & Sue it only feels right… I think we’ve had a wonderful September weather wise and that has definitely helped!

Hope you have a great October too x #KCACOLS

    1. Oh yes I agree the weather has been good, even this first week of October was lovely. Yeah I’m not sure GBBO will get the same attention from me when it moves over. I love Sue Perkins!

  34. Wow September has been a fab month for you, especially with your blog success! I am also in the process of writing a novel, it’s very hard to find the time with four children but I try and do as much as I can when I can! A guide book sounds interesting, I could do with one of those! #KCACOLS

  35. Hooray on your first sponsored post- I just did my first one and am now kind of hooked- but want to stay true to the type of writing that I have been doing thus far. You have had a very VERY busy first month back to school.!

  41. Tooting Mama says:

Sounds like a great September. I remember that transition from reception to year 1, my little girl as in tears. No more play! Sitting on the carpet, putting your hand up, where’s the home corner? Well done on the sponsored content – that’s fantastic! #KCACOLS

    1. Ah yeah bless then it’s a big adjustment isn’t it? I do feel that they should have had more of an easy transition into it to be honest, some kids really struggled, although Evie’s been okay. She’s still not tired at the end of the day though!

These kind of posts are really awesome. I love finding out what a great month people have had and congrats on the sponsorship πŸ™‚ #KCACOL

    1. Thank you so much! It’s a really nice way to look back and remember how far I’ve come as well as see what I’ve accomplished!

  43. That is organised thinking about Christmas shopping. I have to get Halloween and November birthdays out the way before I can think about Christmas. I hope you get your birthday away. #KCACOLS

    1. Ah we don’t have any October/November birthdays, bar one and my anniversary – we never really get each other presents for that though to be honest! I have, now, actually done all my main christmas shopping, anything I get now will be stocking fillers really!

  44. Congratulation on all your success with the blog. It’s always nice to feel like you’re getting somewhere. Great to hear that your little one is adjusting to school. That can be a challenge sometimes especially once the new wears off and it becomes work. #KCACOLS

    1. Yes I agree, she does love school which is great and she goes in and comes out happy but she’s still not happy about doing extra work bless her! Thank you

    1. Thank you so much πŸ™‚ I’m really enjoying it.

  48. Wow you seem to have had a great month! I love the TV at this time of year too; I think it is a combination of snuggling up on the sofa on a cold evening watching things without feeling guilty, and also watching the things that have just become part of the run-up to christmas over the last 10 years (Strictly, XFactor etc) – it is now tradtional to watch them whether I want to or not! #KCACOLS

    1. Yep I couldn’t agree more, they are shows to countdown to Christmas!

  49. Wow, you’ve had a busy and productive month. Sounds like you’re doing really well with your blog -well done! And a novel too? I’m really envious – I love writing but have never had the courage to tackle a novel! Good luck! #kcacols

I love September because it’s my marriage anniersary

    1. Ah hope you had a lovely anniversary! Mine is next month πŸ™‚ Well, not our wedding, as we’re not married but still, four years together is a good thing haha!

  61. Wow you’ve had such a full and busy month! I’m so glad to hear that your blog is really taking off in a big way for you especially, as it’s really well deserved. I don’t know where you find time to write and play video games too, but good for you that you’re indulging in your pleasures. #KCACOLS

    1. Thank you so much! I don’t really know where I find the time either, I’m up very early in the morning usually though!

  62. My son has just started year 1 too, and seems to be coping pretty well so far. He’s definitely tired at the end of each week though! It is quite a big step up from reception isn’t it. x #KCACOLS

    1. Yes for sure it’s a huge step up in terms of workload. My daughter still isn’t tired by the end of the week though! She just doesn’t rest!!

  66. Mum in Brum says:

Sounds like you’ve had a busy month. I always love September as I’m an autumn fan and it’s also my birthday month, so I get a few treats. Sounds like you all had a great September.
Well done on starting your book.

  70. It’s so nice to hear you had a lovely month! And happy birthday to your girl. We unfortunately did not and I’m so happy that September is behind us. I was struck down with severe food poisoning, then my little boy had a vomiting bug, twice. My husband had to go to court against the council (we eventually won, but we didn’t know at the time and it was very scary). October has been much better πŸ™‚ #KCACOLS

    1. Oh no! It’s horrible when you have a month like that, it seems endless doesn’t it?! I hope you’re all better now and I’m glad you won the court battle that must have been really scary!

  71. OH my goodness! I love Final Fantasy! I am obsessed. I have a PS4 now and have no FF games on it yet so am desperate for 15, and the FF7 remake to come out! We should discuss strategies! #KCACOLS

    1. YES! We really should! I have my FF15 on preorder and when the remake of 7 was announced I could have cried! So glad I’ve found more Final Fantasy lovers since posting this! I know 7 is available on the PSN store if you want a bit of nostalgic gameplay! And you can get the HD remaster of 10 and 10-2 on PS4 too πŸ™‚

  72. Congratulations on your blogging successes! Sorry for the very late comment for #KCACOLS
