Highlights of 2014, out with the old and in with the new…HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Here we are yet again at the end of December 2014. I celebrated my 26th Birthday yesterday and I am becoming increasingly aware that I am not just teetering on the edge of the ‘late twenties’ stage but I am four years from thirty. How did that even happen? Time has just gone by so quickly and I have many moments in my life that I am so very proud of. 2015 will be a great year for us, full of new and exciting times I am sure.

My highlights for 2014 have been watching my little tiny baby girl grow into a lovely child, who has her difficulties and challenges but she is worth every struggle. She had her first Barbie for Christmas…I loved my Barbies and can’t believe she is at this sort of stage. Her creativity has brought a tear or two to my eyes with her pictures and all the stories those pictures have to say to us. What she has mentally and physically achieved in this year alone is amazing and to start writing her name is just amazing. I am so very proud of her and I am excited about what the next year will bring. She is going to start school next September. My baby girl is rapidly approaching five years old and will be wearing a uniform for the next however long but I can not wait to see what she will be achieving by next Christmas.

I’ve also celebrated my 2nd Anniversary with Adam and each year that goes by I feel myself falling in love with him all over again. I am still in absolute awe of the way he is with Evangeline, how she adores her, how they completely wind each other up, but the fact that she is happy to be around him and the way he is, and how he looks after her, really means everything to me. It’s been a chance for me to meet some of his extended family too, his grandparents, who are probably one of the most welcoming couples I have ever met. I also met his Dad, Step Mum and their three children; Adam’s younger siblings who are lovely children. We are hoping to see them much more this coming year and include Evangeline in the mix too because I think she will love being around some other children whilst we’re spending time with family.

For me, I’ve had some ups and downs, one of the biggest was being made redundant from my job that I have only had since April however I have learnt a lot about myself and my abilities and I think it has set me up for a really good career. I’m heading into a new job as an Audit consultant starting 12th January which I am really excited about. I truly can’t wait to just get stuck in. I want a career now, I want to be in a higher position by the time I’m 30 rather than keep starting entry level jobs again, especially as I want to have more children and I need a stable job to be able to do that. One thing we are both, myself and Adam, keen to do this year is just get our driving done. I have just applied for my provisional driving license which has been on my mental ‘to do’ list for about eight years now and I ideally want to be driving by the time Evangeline starts school. Having a family as well as having extended family can mean we are a bit pulled apart over special occasions so if one of us can drive, it will make everything easy, if both of us can drive then we’ll be laughing. It will probably be our main expense for 2015 especially whilst trying to scrimp and save for a car at the end of it all…but the reward, I’m sure, will be great. Mostly, I am just sick of relying on other people to take me places. I am sick of having to rely on public transport to visit family and friends. Whilst I am grateful of the offers, being carted around like a child is starting to get a bit embarrassing. Also, paying the prices of said transport can probably get just as expensive as the expense of running a car. Still, we have to do it. Soon Evangeline will want to visit friends or need to go here there and everywhere in between and I won’t be able to rely on someone else to take her.

I’m really looking forward to the new year. I’m looking forward to saying goodbye to this one, although it hasn’t been a bad one at all. We’ve had some really nice little trips away too, London last January, Edinburgh and Dartmouth in May, Isle of Wight in October and our most recent trip to Plymouth in December. Lots of Photos, lots of laughs and lots of memories. On to the new year…
