I love a good cup of coffee and I have recently been lucky enough to sample Lavazza’s Prontissimo instant coffee in exchange for a fair and honest review. I received both the Intenso and Medio flavours of coffee to sample and I have to say I’m really impressed. Both my partner and I have been waking up and having a cup of this in the morning and have really enjoyed the taste of both coffees.
This couldn’t have come at a better time either! The night before my package arrived I’d been out with the Mum’s from school and had a great time as well as knocking back a few glasses of red wine. A hot cup of tasty, Italian, instant coffee was exactly what I needed the morning after.
Both of these come in cans which I really like. They’re easy to hold and very easy to store rather than glass jars. They don’t smash…big bonus for little feet and clumsy mummies and they have a foil seal tab inside to help keep the coffee nice and fresh.
I always keep the foil tab on slightly as I feel that keeps in some of the freshness but that’s just me. The lid is plastic and easy to remove, especially when you’re feeling a little foggy from sleep. Exactly what you need in the morning.
I recently read that coffee is most effective between 9.30-11.30am which was really interesting and the time I probably drink most of my coffee on a daily basis as this is when I’m working and it’s easy to just keep reboiling the kettle for a hot drink at home.
We first tried the Intenso which we both really enjoyed. Its a really nice, strong flavour but with a silky smooth texture and mixes well with milk and water. There was no bitterness at all despite the strong flavour and I would say this was more barista style than the Medio.
Whilst we both enjoyed the Medio I personally found this had a slightly more bitter undertone than the Intenso but I think that would just be my personal tastebuds and preference. I would still purchase both of these in the future but I think the Intenso will take preference as it’s the one I loved the most. Looking over this now I think I loved the Intenso more because it describes as having notes of caramel…might be why I found it a little smoother and sweeter!
Overall both of these coffees are made well, smell great, stay fresh and taste great. If you want to grab yourself a tin (£4.70 for 95g) or a pouch for £3.75 this can be found nationwide in Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco Supermarkets.
