I can’t believe I’ve been blogging here at Candyfloss and Dreams for four years! The first two and a half were a bit sporadic, sure, and I have got rid of some of my older posts because they’re just not really relevant anymore and contained a lot of really bad photos and a lot of really bad writing.
In the last eighteen months I’ve worked really hard on this blog and have become a much more engaged part of the blogging community. I’m a part of Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram groups where we all support, encourage and help each other the best ways we can. I’ve made some great blogging friends who I know will be right there celebrating my fourth year in blogging with me.
I’ve also got a list of really lovely, kind and wonderful subscribers which do include my family, old school friends and Adam. Over the years they’ve sent me incredibly heart warming and kind messages praising me for my writing which has been so lovely to hear and read. I can’t thank you enough for each and every message and comment of encouragement. Attending my first blogging conference was a fantastic way to meet other like minded bloggers too.
I’ve also had my fair share of unkind comments, most of which have just been deleted because they come from a place of jealousy and negativity which is something I regularly work on obliterating out of my life. Thank you though, for helping to raise my stats and traffic.
In the last year especially I’ve been able to take part in some really fantastic opportunities. These really started to come about last April when I went self hosted on my blog. That was a really big step for me and made me start taking this seriously as I realised I could actually blog for a job. The only thing I’ve ever cared about doing for work is writing and I’m finally able to do that. It’s been a very long time coming but honestly, blogging makes me so happy. Sharing experiences, fun days out, tips, advice, my personal experiences all in the vision to help someone else makes me feel great. And it seems to be working as there are a fair few people that regularly come back to my site, to comment on my posts, to share them on social media and all of it just means so much to me. Just helping one or two people means that what I’m doing is so, so worth it. Sharing my story, my experiences as a mother, a woman, a friend, a victim, they have helped others. That is amazing. I’ve talked openly this last year about my mental health and struggle with anxiety too which has really helped me.
Thanks to my blog I’ve been able to do a creative writing course which has really helped me to think about other writing opportunities I want to pursue. Novel writing is so high up on my list and something I will accomplish for sure one day. I’ve been able to take Adam on some great days out, most recently to the Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery which was fantastic. I’ve also been able to get Evie some really lovely treats. The pink Furby Connect was a highlight for us last year too. Already this year I’ve been working with some fantastic brands to host giveaways, reviews and sponsored content.
I can’t wait to enter the next year of blogging fun, adventures, conferences, networking and socialising with more fabulous people.
And as a huge thank you to all my readers, new and old, I am going to host another giveaway.
