For anyone that loves swimming…have you tried Aqua Fit yet? I have!
Remember my healthy living post a while ago? Well…it’s taken me a while to write this update because my scales battery died and so I haven’t really been able to measure my progress as such and I wanted to try and weigh myself in the morning, same time every week so I can try and keep track of it as accurately as possible but I was having to use my mums scales and I can’t really go really early on a Saturday. Anyway, the problem is sorted and I have scales back!
So the last few weeks I’ve been focusing on making healthier food choices and continuing with walking plenty to and from school but I have a gym membership and I wanted to start using it again. This week I did my first ever Aqua Fit class and I absolutely loved it! It was so much fun and whilst I came out the water feeling like I worked out I wasn’t in pain and I didn’t feel sick. Bonus! I love that my membership includes all access to the swimming pool so that’s what I plan to make the most of over the next few months.
I really hate the gym, especially after a long walk to and from school but I love swimming and it’s great when you’re all hot and sweaty to get into the nice cool water and just feel your body stretch out. Swimming has always been one of my favourite activities and I thought why not use it as a chance to get well and truly healthy!
Aqua Fit is so much fun! It’s basically water aerobics and the instructor was showing high and low impact moves to do in the water. She added resistance with disc floats and woggles (Pool Noodles, my partner likes to correct me) so as well as the water you have a float to help you work out. There was plenty of stretching, floating and movement and I definitely felt warm after the work out. I did two sessions this week and I have booked myself into the three classes next week. All three are just after the school run so I don’t have to worry about childcare, I just need to move my work schedule around a bit but that’s the pleasure of being self employed – I can work whenever I like!
I also did a regular swim of 450 metres which took me around half an hour. I was really proud of myself for this and rewarded myself with a trip into the spa, lovely steam room and whirlpool jacuzzi to finish off a swim was a great way to relax and all included in the membership.
With these extra workouts I have lost a total of 7.2lbs so far this month and I am thrilled with that! I have been using a fibre supplement by Forza just to help me with snacking inbetween meals and because I don’t eat a lot of bread I feel like I sometimes don’t get enough fibre. It’s been working very nicely for me and I’ll be reviewing the product next month when I’ve finished the course. It is so imporant to be healthy and sometimes taking supplements can really help get all the nutrition you need however it should always be managed with a balanced diet.
So what have I got in store for next week? Well four more days of school runs, that’s eight hours of walking, as well as three Aqua Fit sessions and two regular swim sessions where I am going for 500 metres minimum. I’m going to give this new routine a couple of weeks and then I might just add some Yoga and Pilates into the mix. I felt like I needed a bit of a before photo too so I can mark my progress in pictures. My goal is to drop two dress sizes before my cruise to Norway in August and to continue healthy eating. I feel healthier in myself and I have slept a lot better this week which I’m really happy about. Let’s see how I’ll handle the next week! Here’s to happy, healthy living!
