Let’s start off by saying calm down. Nothing stops you from feeling sexy as much as stress and stressing about not looking sexy is a guaranteed way to put yourself into a loop of insecurity. Breathe, realign, and let’s start at the beginning.
Work it
Looking good is something we all want to do, but never lose sight of the fact that sexy dress and trashy dress are very close cousins. It is very easy to take an outfit too far if you try too hard, which can end up looking trashy – definitely not part of the plan! It’s all about feeling comfortable in what you’re wearing and looking good doing it. The secret ingredient to this winning recipe? Confidence!
Does it fit?
It goes without saying, but clothes that are too big or too small for you will make you look bigger than you are, and no-one wants that. Instead of trying to portray yourself as someone you’re not, rather identify your best features and highlight that by wearing the right clothing. If a small waist is one of your strong points, wear a cinched waist outfit that shows it off! Great legs? Skirts and mini dresses were practically made for you!
If anything doesn’t fit you 100% correctly, don’t hold back from having it tailored. You can improve the fit of existing clothing and save money by not having to replace them, by simply having them altered to fit you. When your clothing fits, you will automatically start relaxing about how you look, which, as I mentioned, is the first step to dressing sexy.
Keep your mystery
Never, ever give the game away by showing too much skin. A good rule to remember is that, if you are showing skin around the chest area, to balance it by covering the legs. If you have great legs and like to show them off, cover you top half to prevent your outfit from looking trashy. Don’t worry about the need to look dressed up in order to look sexy – if you wear a plain old t-shirt with the right attitude, trust me – it can, and will look sexy.
Boost items you already own, by adding statement jewellery to a plain blouse, for example. A deep neckline, or a structured cut to a piece of clothing go a long way in creating confidence, but a sexy dress goes a lot further than just clothes. A touch of make-up to enhance your strongest natural features can go a long way in giving you more confidence in your physical appearance. Just a quick word of warning – when it comes to make-up, less is definitely more. The days of caked and baked makeup are over – rather keep it natural and confident!
Trendy is not always good
Trends pass, and while they are fun to follow, just because something is popular, doesn’t mean you’ll look good in it. If you are considering joining a trend, make sure that you truly feel good in what you’re wearing. If you feel comfortable in what you’re wearing, others will think you look sexy – guaranteed.
