One look at Pinterest, and you’ll see that lots of mums are taking their style seriously. They know that having a young child doesn’t have to mean living in jeans and sweaters for the rest of eternity, and they also know that just because they’re a mum, this doesn’t have to mean they need to tone down their sense of style. Post-baby comfort does, however, mean a slight change to the way that you dress, so it can be worth purchasing some easy to style outfits that will make you both look and feel fabulous. Below are a few ideas on how to go about this.
Camisoles and Tank Tops
If you’re currently breastfeeding, camisoles and tank tops are a fantastic idea. Many come with built-in removable clasps so you can easily let baby access your breasts when it’s time for a feed. We recommend buying a variety in these in different colors so that you can mix and match them depending on your mood – and the occasion. For a relaxed, yet stylish look, buy a few button-down shirts which you can loosely wear over the top of them.
Outerwear
As a mum, you know you need to wear clothing that requires as little ‘change’ as possible. Rather than looking into jumpers and knitwear, consider the ways that you can layer outfits so that you can remove and add items as needed depending on the temperature. Denim jackets, cardigans, and shrugs are ideal for this purpose, and you won’t need to worry about getting too hot or too cold with any of these items.
Leggings
We probably don’t need to say anything here; most mums live in leggings due to how comfortable they are. Pair your leggings with an oversized t-shirt, a pair of ankle boots, and a faux leather jacket to instantly dress up your outfit. Or, if the weather is warm, you can again wear an oversized tee with your leggings, but pair it with a comfortable pair of sandals for a comfy, light look.
Sneakers
Comfortable shoes are key, whether you have a baby or a toddler. After all, the last thing you want to end up doing is chasing a toddler down a supermarket aisle in a pair of high heels. The Balenciaga sneakers from SSENSE are a top choice here as they’re not only comfortable enough for everyday wear, but they’re stylish as well. Pair them with some leggings or a pair of skinny jeans for the ultimate in effortless style.
Accessories
Finally, accessories are a mum’s best friend as they can truly transform an outfit. No-one needs to know that you’ve worn the same shirt twice in one week if you dress it up differently each time! Stud earrings and simple necklaces are ideal when you have a young baby, but once your kids are older you can rock chunky bracelets and oversized necklaces too. Don’t neglect to buy a statement bag either – the bigger the better when you have young kids!
