A spa day is a lovely thing, but once it’s done, it’s done, and all you’ll have are memories (and a truly relaxed and happy feeling, of course). If you want the feeling to last, it might be better to go about creating a luxury spa experience at home instead. That way, you can enjoy the feeling whenever you want, and really make the most of any relaxation time you might have. With that in mind, here are some great ideas on how to make your home much more spa-like; you don’t have to spend a lot of money or go to too much trouble, and the end result can be utterly transformative. Read on to find out more.

Lavender Leaves Under Your Pillow
Did you know that of all the senses, our sense of smell is the one that helps us most when it comes to relaxing? That’s because certain scents trigger good feelings and maybe even memories, and that makes our minds clearer and our bodies less tense. So of course, if you’re planning to make your home into a spa of sorts, having some beautiful scents around is going to help considerably.
Something that always helps with relaxation is lavender, and placing some lavender leaves (in a little pouch or bag, so they don’t make a mess) under your pillow will make a big difference to how well you sleep and your overall feeling of wellbeing. If you can’t get fresh leaves, you can put a few drops of lavender oil onto a tissue and leave it under your pillow. Although this is a strong smell, if you do it in the morning, it will have dissipated a lot by the time you go to bed and will be just right.
Use Rosewater For Household Tasks
We use water many times throughout the day, and it can often be part of our housework routine. From ironing to washing down tiles to cleaning the carpet, water is crucial. Since you’re using this water anyway, why not add some drops of rose water to it, and make it smell absolutely gorgeous? If you do this and then use the water around your home, it will smell like a spa all the time.
Rosewater is particularly good for use when ironing. It will leave your linens and clothes with a beautiful fresh scent, and as the steam enters the air, your home is going to smell good too. Just remember to use distilled rose water (rosewater hydrosol) as that’s best for the steam iron.
Make A Forest Bath
Everyone needs a space just for themselves around the home, and if you incorporate the idea of a forest bath into your space, you will find it has many different benefits. Essentially, a forest bath is usually done outside, and the person engaging in this enjoyable activity will sit in a forest, or walk through it barefoot, or run through it, or whatever they want. The point is that they will take the time to admire the trees and plants around them. It’s a way of clearing the mind and feeling connected with nature.
Because not everyone is near a forest and not everyone is comfortable being alone in the woods even if they are close by, buying some large plants for your home and setting them up in one room where you can sit amongst them and contemplate nature can be a good substitute.
