There’s nothing nicer than a hot, relaxing bath or shower after a busy day. Life can be hectic and stressful, and so it’s important to take pleasure in the little things. Not only can the hot water make you feel physically better due to relieving tense muscles, but it can lower blood pressure leaving you feeling relaxed with improved wellbeing too. With this being said, it makes sense to make the bathroom a nice place to spend time, and so a beautiful yet practical space is what you’re aiming to achieve. Here are a few of the ways you can go about it regardless of your budget.
Flooring
Do you currently have peeling vinyl warped laminates or worse still, smelly carpet down in your bathroom? It’s time to put that right. Go with something that’s hard wearing and easy to clean, ceramic tiles work well or if you’re on more of a budget go with a new sheet of vinyl. If you’re looking to spend more, go with stone, ceramic or even marble tiles for a high end finish. You could even consider having underfloor heating fitted, which is a fantastic way to keep warm particularly as bathrooms can sometimes feel cold and stark. Not all floor coverings can be used with underfloor heating, so make sure you check before buying expensive tiles if you have this fitted.
Fixtures and Fittings
One way to revamp a bathroom is simply by changing the fixtures and fittings. Even if you don’t have the cash to replace the entire bath or sink, you could make them look like new just by replacing the taps. An old-fashioned, rusty or leaky tap will bring down the look of any room, so just this one change can make a huge difference. You can buy things like designer towel rails online too, have a plumber rip out the old radiator and fit one of these instead. Stylish and practical.
Wall Tiles
A bathroom that is fully tiled will always look best, and give a really clean and fresh look to the room. Unlike wallpaper or paint they won’t become mouldy in a steamy bathroom making them practical as well as beautiful. Choosing a simple design means they won’t look dated in a few years, a clean white or light neutral is a good choice. If you don’t have the budget for new tiles, you could consider painting your existing ones- or scraping the grout with a grout tool and putting fresh stuff in which will make them look nice and new.
Accessories
Finally, some new fluffy bath towels and a bath mat can make all the difference and give you the feeling of luxury when you step out of the bath or shower. Get some new decorative items, a new toilet brush, soap dispenser and toothbrush holder. These smaller items do make an impact to the look of the room, and if you’ve had yours for a while chances are they’re a little manky and in need of replacing anyway.
