A healthy heart is really, really important especially for someone like me who is a little on the heavy side. You will probably know that I’m off to Norway in August and I really want to make sure I’m fit, healthy and happy when I go as I want to take advantage of the sun as much as I will be hiking around the Fjords. At the moment I’m really conscious of what I’m eating and how much I’m moving. I was offered the chance to review the Beets Blue Heart Rate Monitor in exchange for an honest review alongside my fitness journey. I thought this would be a great chance to monitor my heart rate and make sure I’m getting it pumping with some cardio each day. I personally walk for around two hours each day to and from school but because only half of that is done at a brisk pace I do sometimes worry that I’m not moving fast enough to actually make an impact on my body and my heart rate.
The heart rate monitor is available on amazon for £29.95 and the really handy thing about it is it connects to the a huge variety of apps available on the App store, however this is also compatible with apps from android too so it’s worth taking a look and seeing if you can get it to run with an app you are already using. I received this really quickly and was surprised by how small and light weight the monitor is. Inside the box was the monitor itself which is a small sensor with adjustable chest straps and the instruction manual which explains how to use the device.
It’s really easy to apply and has adjustable chest straps so that you can wear it comfortably whilst exercising. You’ll find in the manual that it does inform you that you may wish to slightly dampen the electrodes before use to make sure it sticks to your skin. I found it was really quick to start up so obviously you can get your resting heart rate within a few moments of putting it on. The heart rate monitor works by measuring your heart rate and the sensor captures electrical impulses to give an accurate reading which is then sent straight to whichever fitness app on your phone. I think this is really handy as you have a way to monitor your fitness levels in a non-invasive way and you don’t have to do any of the working out or remembering figures…it’s all done for you.
I’ve worn this now on the school run and when doing home workouts and often forget that I’m wearing it, mainly because it’s very lightweight and doesn’t feel restrictive. I personally haven’t got anything to compare this product to in terms of effectiveness or accuracy but I was happy with the results it displayed.
I quite like it myself, although it’s not something I feel like I need to wear every time I walk or exercise but it’s really useful, especially if I want to pick up a new work out, to find out how hard I’m working myself.
Disclaimer: I received this Beets Blu Heart Rate monitor in exchange for an honest review, all opinions remain my own.
