Well I am truly in the festive spirit right now and it’s thanks to our Advent Calendars really. As well as visiting Father Christmas and watching The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus we’ve all had some early treats throughout December. We’ve all got more than one advent calendar this year which is totally fine by me as we’ve all received some lovely little items and bites of chocolate every day. I wanted to show you a few of the lovely things we’ve already unboxed and opened. I do think some advent calendars have gone way overboard with their pricing but some higher priced calendars have been totally worth it too! I love that they make an extra little gift, treat and like you’ve got something really special. They’re really nice things to be able to buy for the family and now we’re in a better position financially plus we’ve had so many mad changes with work and college these last few months it’s been so lovely to have something to reward the family with.
Take a look at what’s inside our calendars below:
Adam has an £8 Hotel Chocolat advent calendar like me. We got the kids versions because the penguins look a lot more festive and to be honest it’s still tasty, yummy chocolate. Adam also has a 12 Days of Christmas Man Stuff advent calendar which has been full of practical man stuff like face wash and tweezers. This was bought on sale for £10 from Superdrug. It’s packaged up nicely in a little box and features 12 doors to open – which is a pretty good price for £10.
Evie has a My Little Pony chocolate advent calendar. She really loves seeing the little pictures inside the doors alongside demolishing the bite of chocolate she gets to eat in the morning. This was just a regular £2 calendar purchased from Asda.
Evie’s stationary calendar is thanks to Smiggle and it’s lovely, big and beautiful. Smiggle is a lovely stationary shop which is perfect for Evie with loads of things to smell and feel. She has got some lovely little goodies so far including a set of pencils, a secret pen, a notebook, a scented slap band, a stapler, a ruler with a little game on it and stencils, a lollipop eraser, a sharpener and a luggage tag. She loves Smiggle goodies so much so this has been a massive hit.
Every other day Evie has been opening up her chest of Itty Bitty’s too and has been allowed a lucky dip into the chest for a new super soft plush. There are twelve for the 12 days of Christmas and then an extra special set for Christmas Day which are the beautifully festive Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Itty Bitty’s are a really lovely little collectable from Hallmark and they have pretty much all your favourite characters. So far Evie has unboxed Elsa, Olaf, Aurora, Glenda the Goodwitch and Dorothy amongst a few others. They are super cute and have made a really sweet alternative advent calendar as well as making ideal stocking fillers this Christmas.
I also have three. Although one I have opened up and used most of the beautiful products already. I am however sticking to the rules with my Hotel Chocolat Penguin calendar and my Makeup Revolution calendar which has 25 amazing beauty treats from my favourite high street makeup brand. So far I’ve had anti-shine balm, lipsticks, lipgloss and a few highlighters. I’ve loved being able to use a new makeup treat each day and I’m trying to create some festive looks.
My most beautiful calendar has been the absolutely gorgeous Charlotte Tilbury Naughty and Nice Magic Box which is fabulous. I’ve got 12 beautiful high end makeup tricks including a few full sized products and some fun-sized treats. Charlotte Tilbury makeup is really luxurious in packaging and has made me a total convert to this lovely brand. I am loving the Wonderglow and Magic Cream in particular and the Matte Revolution Lipstick is long lasting and lovely. I’m excited to try the Goddess Clay Mask and the Take It All Off makeup remover has been super kind to my skin and given me a fresh face each evening.
Have you got any alternative advent calendars this year? What surprise has been your favourite so far?
