  • Stylish Prints & Frames with Desenio

Desenio specialise in posters, prints and picture frames for every room in the home. If you’re looking for ways to add extra style and colour to your home then Desenio is a perfect place to start. I managed to find a great range of gorgeous prints for the whole family and for each room in our flat. It’s added a little bit of colour and just transformed our walls.

Desenio prints can be hung up, stuck up with washi tape, placed in frames and styled exactly the way you want them to be. There is a huge range of gorgeous prints and frames to fit so that you can get exactly the right image for your home. I choose to style mine as creatively as possible with Washi tape as I live in renter accocomoration and currently I can’t hang things up on the wall. I wanted to get these up before I got too far along in my pregnancy and help just create a more homely environment.

Evie really wanted to select a poster for her room and choose this lovely Baby Giraffe picture which she proudly helped me to tape up on her wall. The quality of the paper is excellent and despite being rolled up when delivered there are no creases in the paper. The poster has a matte effect finish and is something that Evie looks on really fondly because giraffes are her favourite animal.

I’ve wanted some form of artwork in the kitchen for quite a long time now and as Adam and I are both coffee lovers the coffee menu was really apt. I think it looks really stylish in the lovely white frame and just adds a bit more to our kitchen. It’s a great size for this kind of art work too and the size is ideal for the kitchen.

I wanted to give our bathroom a bit more of a tropical theme and looked for posters that made me think of far away places. First though we really need to re paint the bathroom walls and wait for them to try before adding our prints up. I love the palm leaf print in particular and I think these choices are really helping me to create a more spa like feel in our bathroom. We’ve got quite a big bathroom fortunately so getting something up on the walls to make them look just a little better was key for me.

Unwind, Palm Leaves Pattern and Ficus Exposure

Our bedroom is purple and I absolutely love owls so I couldn’t resist putting up this super cute owl print! Again I’ve used washi tape and styled the print on our wardrobe door because it was such a stark white in the room. Alongside my make up I’ve added this quote in this frame because I do quite like an inspirational quote from time to time.

    Little Owl

Desenio really do have so many lovely prints that you can use all around the home with big posters to quotes and sayings. This can make it really personal to the family home and really help theme a room If thats what you’re looking to do. I loved looking through the inspiration section on the website to get a feel for the types of prints available and found this really helped me when making my choices.

I quite love quotes and as I’m planning a home birth I wanted a few quotes in the living room as well as some pictures that made me feel calm. The beach and the sea really bring me to a happy mental place and being able to look up at these on my living room wall make me feel happy as they’re the kind of places I would love to visit. Again this have been put up with washi tape. I would have liked to create a nice frame around the images with the tape but actually I’m quite happy with them like this!

Posters are Beach Umbrella, Standards High and Colourful Sky

I also work from home so I like to a quote to make me smile on my desk. I’ve decided to add this one into a frame to place on my desk, right next to my cup of coffee because that is the vibe I need on a Monday morning to get back into the swing of things!

  • The Ultimate Flamingo Bedroom Shopping List

Flamingo Bedroom Design – Post Contains Affiliate Links

I am loving all the Flamingo bedroom design, decor and prints that are around right now. My daughter can keep her Unicorns, I am all about the Flamingos right now. They’re pretty on trend, I am loving the bright pink and to be honest it hasn’t really taken much to persuade Adam that flamingos are the way to go for our bedroom…I have seen so many lovely flamingo clothes for little girls too but I just happen to be having a little boy so I might have to go ahead and find some more flamingo inspired boys clothes and bits and pieces.

I think a Flamingo bedroom can be complimented with palm tree, watermelon and pineapple prints which really seem to be the icons of the summer. I’m seeing them everywhere and I absolutely love it. Colours you might want to consider for a flamingo bedroom are:

Flamingo Bedroom Colours in Pink, Green, Blue, Yellow

    Flamingo Bedding

I love our Flamingo bedding! We went with a king sized, double sided grey cover with big flamingos on one side and smaller flamingos on the other. A decent flamingo duvet cover and pillow cases are the first step in creating a Flamingo bedroom.

    Fluffy Throw

For me a bed isn’t made without a fluffy blanket. I love having lots of textures on the bed to snuggle into, especially in the winter and this looks super soft and extra fluffy.

I love this box, perfect for makeup or underbed storage. I might have to redecorate our bathroom too in Flamingo pink so that I can get a couple of these for the changing table – they will be great for holding nappies and other baby bits!

Fairy lights, string lights, they’re a big thing and these would be lovely around the headboard or wardrobe. I love them!

  • Evie’s Bedroom Makeover – Part 2

We have gradually been trying to improve Evie’s room. By improve I mean throw away a lot of old toys that do not work and do not get played with. This has been a big success and we’ve now got a nice big toy storage unit to keep everything together. Everything now has a proper place and the room is, most of the time, pretty easy to keep tidy. I say pretty easy, but children are very good at making a big mess out of not a lot of stuff!

New bedding has really helped make the room look like a new room and we recently received this gorgeous set of Owl bedding set from Room to Grow. It’s a single duvet cover and pillow case which goes really nicely with her pink and cream (well, magnolia) walls. I love the cute Owl design and think it’s pretty age appropriate now that she is 7! The bedding feels really nice and has buttons to do it up in the end rather than poppers. I usually prefer poppers because making beds is something I want to get over and done with but the buttons are nice and big and can be done up very quickly.

Evie still has a lot of soft toys which I’m kind of reluctant to get rid of because she really does play with them all. I think we might have to say goodbye to a few of the more threadbare or opening at the seams ones though because, well, she has about 500 of them. Honestly, soft toys are such a popular thing with Evie. She is currently collecting the little Disney Tsum Tsums which are super cute. I’m glad we’ve had a good sort out, especially with Christmas coming up. She now has so much more space in her tiny box room and now I have a much better idea of the toys she actually loves to play with rather than stuff I think she’ll love to play with.

  • How Using Blue Revitalises Your Home In 2017

    This is a collaborative post.

We think of the colour blue for many different reasons: the colour of the sky, the way water shimmers at you, it’s even the metaphorical way to describe to others that we’re feeling sad. However, the use of both bright and warm blue hues in our homes is at the forefront of the design trend this year, so below are a few styles to include in your next home improvement scheme to bring out that true blue feeling.

    Loving Leather

We all know leather is super stylish, and offers an extra element of chic or refined furnishing depending on the style you go for. Buying something like a comfy blue chesterfield sofa is the chessmaster in this blue revolution. Upgrading to leather furniture is a great move during the summer. A lot of allergy sufferers will be in full sneeze swing at this time of year, so sitting on a material that doesn’t collect dust mites will be a great benefit for them.

Coating your living room in blue items such as cushions is a great way to incorporate bright colours as well as a relaxed feeling into your home. Similarly, decorating with darker lampshades can offer a cool haven away from the burning summer sun whilst your lights are both off and on.

    Designer Denim

We tend to think of denim as a 2000s trend that a lot of people don’t wish to remember. It’s been making a comeback recently, and with good reason! Denim washes are a relaxed colour and won’t have a damaging impact to any open space in a room. They can often come in ‘misty’ shades which will add both a light and dark influence, and look good as a feature wall base. It’s a great way to welcome family and friends alike, and can add a personal touch to ceilings or floors with paint and rugs.

Denim is great for upholstering chairs to add a suede look to them. But if all out denim still makes you uncomfortable, the effect can often be faked as well.

    The Cobalt Revolution

A lot of people love the colour blue; it goes well with so many other colours, and adds a modernistic turn to a space if paired with white. If you’re a fan of bolder colour statements, then using a shade such as cobalt is a great way to add life to a living room. It can also bring in a touch of the exterior, with many of us seeing oceans and rivers when we look at it.

Cobalt blue also works as a great accent colour, and was employed to full effect as one last season. Professional designers are a big fan of the shade due to its versatility and multiple style combos.

Blue will always be a colour that’s in style, and common and calm enough for all types of people to use it. Consider these helpful tips if you want to overhaul your living room to add in some blue renegades this summer!

  • Fantastic House Moving Tips That You Have Probably Never Thought About

    This is a collaborative post.

We all know moving house can be very stressful, and there is loads of advice online as to how you can make life easier for yourself in the process. We have already given you our stress-busting tips on this site. However, to be original, we have decided to come up with some clever ideas that you have probably never considered. So, without further ado, let’s get packing… erm… We mean cracking!

    Fill your socks

Not only do you need to pack your socks, but you also need to pack up your fragile glass items. Kill two birds with one stone (not literally, that’s cruel) and use your socks as extra padding for your breakables. You might still want to use bubble wrap or extra tissue paper, but your socks will add extra protection. Hint: think of the germs and use clean socks if you intend to drink out of those glasses when you get to your new property.

Use beer crates for your books

Avid readers will need to put their favorite books somewhere, but cardboard boxes may not be strong enough to hold the weight. Instead, use wooden beer crates which are more durable, and have handles on the side to help you carry them. Make sure you remove (or drink) the beer first, however, as you don’t want to ruin your copy of Fifty Shades of Gray with fifty shades of alcohol!

Take a photo of your tv wires

Unplugging the wires from the back of your tv is one thing, but remembering where they go again is quite another! Considering the number of appliances you probably have plugged in, from your DVD player to your games consoles, having a handy photograph of what goes where will help you untangle your memory when you get to the new house.

    Hire a cleaning crew

    (pixabay)

You have so much to do on moving day that cleaning the home may become an afterthought. However, if you are renting your property, you won’t get your deposit back if the house is a mess. Therefore, hire an end of lease cleaning service to reduce your burden, or get your friends and neighbors in to give you a hand.

    Cut down on boxes

You probably have loads of storage containers you haven’t actually thought about. Picnic hampers, laundry baskets, suitcases, and litter bins are just some of the items that could be filled with your essential items. Please note: ensure the cat hasn’t made a home in one of them, as you don’t want a flat packed kitty on your hands when you start to unpack later in the day.

    Use toothpaste on nail holes

Your paintings look great in the house until you remove them and you are left with unsightly holes in the wall. Provided the toothpaste matches the color on the wall, squirt a little in, wipe away the excess, and you will never see the holes again! Admittedly, you won’t see them anyway as you will have long gone, but if your new property smells minty fresh you will know why!

Let me know if you have any original and creative tips for moving day.
