There are lots of exercises and routines that target belly fat. They are very effective, but that’s not the problem. Many people can’t last more than a few weeks (sometimes, days) in their routine before they quit. Why? That’s because doing sit-ups and crunches day by day quickly gets mind-numbing.

Losing weight doesn’t have to be tedious or miserable. If you’re looking for fun ways to trim your tummy, here are a few activities you can try.

Hula-Hooping

Hula-Hoops were incredibly popular worldwide in the 1950s, but they gradually faded into the background over the years. Hooping was known for getting rid of belly fat. It’s true too, since hooping gets your heart rate up, which means it works to burn calories. Hopping also provides an excellent workout for your abdominal core muscles.

Hoops can be made from plastic or wood. The tubing can be light or dense. If your goal is to lose some inches off your waist and hips, using a weighted hoop is the ideal choice.

Moreover, doing hoops is fun and challenging. If you’ve never done it before, it may take some time to get more than one successful twirl, but that’s one of the reasons hooping doesn’t get tiring quickly.

Hula-Hoops are affordable too. You can use them anywhere and take them wherever you go. You can also try different hooping routines and learn new tricks and techniques to spice up your workouts.

Try these fun Hula-Hoop exercises to blast belly fat away.

Boxing

Boxing is an excellent activity to shed off extra pounds. It provides an intense cardio workout that engages the entire body. The sport is also much more interesting than facing a mirror and lifting weights. There are stances, moves, and techniques that will challenge you physically and mentally.

Throwing punches isn’t the only thing you’re going to do in boxing. If you watch a boxer in their element, you’ll see that they employ head movements, defense techniques, and fancy footwork. In short, you use your whole body when boxing. A one-hour session can make you lose as much as 1,000 calories, depending on the intensity of your workout.

Strength training is also a major component of boxing because you can’t have fast, powerful punches without strong muscles. So if you want well-defined chest and arms, boxing is the exercise for you.

Cycling

If you want an exercise that doesn’t feel like an exercise, go cycling. Ask any cyclist, and they’ll tell you that cycling is one of the most genuinely fun and enjoyable physical activities to do for anyone who wants to get fit.

Cycling doesn’t target your belly fats specifically. Spot reducing or losing fat in a specific part of your body is a myth. When you exercise, you burn fat from your entire body and not just from one area of it. Cycling is effective at shedding off those extra pounds.

Cycling for weight loss works better when you know your max heart rate. That’s because the fat-burning process only kick-starts when you ride at a pace that will elevate your heart rate to 70 percent of your max heart rate.

You can use a device to monitor your heart rate and control your pace to make every ride count. Another tool you can use is a power meter. People’s heart rates can speed up due to other factors aside from the physical effort. In that case, the heart rate is not always a reliable basis for determining the intensity of your workout.

Power meters measure power, which isn’t affected by extraneous factors like emotions and stressful situations. You can use this cycling training gadget for weight loss to accurately determine how much power you use, which translates to energy or calories you burn on your bike.

Swimming

Swimming offers many benefits, one of which is weight loss. It engages your upper body, lower body, and core. Swimming is also an excellent cardio exercise, which means it promotes heart health. It’s also low-impact, so it’s easier on your joints and muscles.

Swimming burns calories all over your body, but certain swimming exercises target your waist and hips. These include flutter kicks and butterfly kicks. However, swimming in itself already engages your core. Your body draws power from its center to kick and cut through water.

You can burn more calories when you use interval training when swimming. Interval training means mixing high- and moderate-intensity exercise. For example, you can swim to full speed for one lap and then slow down at a relaxed pace for the next lap. This is the same for running and cycling too.

Final Words

Exercising helps get rid of belly fat, but it’s more effective when you combine it with a well-balanced diet. Working out for 30 minutes every day won’t work if you keep consuming sugary and fatty food and drinks. It only adds more fats in your body faster than you can burn.

Go for low-calorie foods that fill your stomach without overeating. Choose high-fiber fruits and vegetables and protein, like lean meat, fish, beans, and legumes. Exercising and eating right are the best ways to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.
