  • Adding Wall Murals in your Home

    The Benefits of Wall Murals

Wall Murals do not have to be outside, they are very much becoming an indoor thing at home and are allowing individuals to create personalised and themed rooms effectively and easy. Wall murals are a great way to add in a big burst of colour.

Wall murals are a great way to liven up a space and add some creative flair to a room. I recently talked about how we had added some extra Unicorn Sparkle to my daughters bedroom and it’s got me thinking about other creative ways we can add some colour and decoration to our home. I have seen some really impressive wall murals around which I think make an absolutely stunning affect and there are so many to choose from too. When it comes to decorating you can keep things light and simple with wall stickers or go all out with a stunning mural. There is so much choice available on the market too so it’s really easy to completely theme a room around a child’s tastes or create something relaxing in your own bedroom. You can select wallpaper or murals that paste onto the walls or there are plenty of peel and stick options available too which might be more suitable for rented accommodation. Wall murals can give you the feature wall you’ve wanted in a really dramatic way.

    Children’s Wall Murals

There is a great range of wallpaper and children’s wall murals available. Being pregnant with a baby boy and having an older girl in the house I love that when they both have their own rooms in a bigger home I can really get creative and give them a lovely themed room. From Unicorns to underwater scenes and pirates there is pretty much a scene for every craze around and something your child will absolutely love. I love that with Wallsauce, in particular, you can ensure you get the right size as all murals are made to fit your space. This is particularly beneficial if you have awkward shaped walls or smaller spaces.

Some companies may even turn your own image into a wall mural so if there’s a photo you particularly love and want to really make your space your own, this could be a great option for you.

    Wall Stickers

If you want something a little smaller or perhaps some attractive lettering with a favourite quote then wall stickers might be more to your taste. Alongside my daughters Unicorn wall stickers she has her name surrounded by Fairies and stars which make a really nice touch and again make her room feel personal to her.

  • A Picture Perfect Summer Garden

    Creating the Perfect Summer Garden

What would make a perfect summer garden? I always envision a place to relax with stylish rattan furniture under a covered trellis and a mix of vibrant flowers and leafy plants. I always think a summer garden as being BBQ ready and having plenty of places to entertain. Of course, I wouldn’t know where to start when making my garden picture perfect and would probably look to hiring a landscaping company to help me create that perfect summer garden. Living in a flat we often find ourselves fantasising about our ideal garden space and as the evenings stay lighter and the days get warmer I find myself craving that outdoor space even more.

    vibrant orange flowers, summer garden,

I love the idea of having a small covered corner with a hot tub. I imagine in the evenings with a glass of something chilled and enjoying the water. I’d also love to have a good sized space of artificial grass for the kids to play, a paddling pool and maybe even a few toys. We have a selection of wooden toys just waiting to be played in our perfect summer garden and I know just having the extra space that we are really craving would make such a difference to the summer holidays which already feel so long. Currently being pregnant having a lovely cold drink and keeping my toes in the cool water of a paddling pool is my idea of heaven!

A perfect summer garden, to me, is all about colour and I am very into tropical prints and flamingos right now. I think this type of design can really contribute to creating that exotic beach feel. I think adding these bright flashes of colour give the garden a summer feel. I also love the addition of fairy lights, particularly if they’re solar powered, making everything a bit more eco friendly and not having to switch them all on during the evening. Another great addition to the gardens is using citronella candles which prevent all those insects getting too close, particularly if you want to enjoy a family meal outside.

  • The Benefits of Artificial Grass in a Garden

The Benefits of Artificial Grass in a Garden

    This is a collaborative post.

A few years back now my nan replaced part of her garden with artificial grass. I wasn’t sure why at the time but now I totally get why she had it changed. I love my nans garden, it’s huge with lots of beautiful flowers and veggies but it’s a lot of maintenance. Just changing the top part of the lawn to artificial grass has cut down a bit of a job! I think it’s something my mum would do in her garden and if I’m honest something I would happily do if I had a garden of my own.

I know in my garden I would like to have a nice, soft area for Evie to play. Having a lawn of artificial grass would mean she can get out there no matter the weather and play. We would also love to have a dog and having something easy to clean is ideal. Apparently, dogs love it because it’s nice and soft on their paws. Adding flowers and colour into the garden would be simple with the use of decorative plant pots or just having a smaller, dedicated area to growing things would make it nice and easy to maintain too.

One concern I would have would be the use of an inflatable pool on top of artificial grass for my daughter to play in over the summer holidays. The good thing about it is that there would be no risk of the grass going brown and dying, you wouldn’t be left with a big old patch of dead grass in the middle of the garden. However, extra prolonged weight can flatten artificial grass. This can be rectified simply by moving the pool around and having a quick brush to have the grass upright again.

I think having artificial grass would make it easy to landscape your garden too so you could have dedicated areas for play, growing things and being decorative. Having a garden is an absolute dream for us and something we will be looking to have when we eventually move home. I’ve mentioned a few of the benefits of having artificial grass in the home but here are a few more you might want to consider:

    1. You don’t have to mow that part of the lawn
    2. It doesn’t need watering saving water costs
    3. It looks nice all year round
    4. It’s easy to clean which is a must have if you have dogs and children
    5. No need for harmful pesticides
    6. Easy to maintain in rented properties

There are plenty of companies which will help make your decision easier for you and there are so many options available too. Laying it is simple and artificial grass is becoming an affordable option for those that want to minimise garden maintenance. As you can see above there are quite a few benefits to having artificial grass in your garden. Have you got artificial grass? Has it made maintaining your garden a quick and easy process?

  • A Nursery for our New Baby

A Nursery for our New Baby

Dream Nursery for our New Baby

A nursery or baby bedroom is something I would love to create before our baby is born. I’ve often spoke of how we need to move home and with a new baby on the way I know that moving really needs to move higher up in the priorities. For the first few months at least I know the baby will be in our room with us giving us a chance to save and then we can create a gorgeous new nursery. I love thinking about how I might want to furnish and design the room and wanted to share a few ideas with you. I know I want to have a bright nursery with blinds, wooden floors and fluffy rugs. We are so excited about the new addition to our family and I wish I could give them a brand new bedroom right now however, a girl can dream up her ideal design space which is what I’ve done below. Some of the links may be affiliate links.

    Colour Scheme

The ideal colour scheme for me is white furnishings and rainbow touches of colour throughout the nursery. This is suitable for any baby and would make a light, bright and airy space. I thing adding rainbow themes and colours is really cute and there are so many lovely baby bits around with rainbow patterns. I’ve seen it before flicking through catalogues and think the rainbow on white look is really effective and cute. Rainbow wall stickers are a favourite of mine and something I would love to use. I think this one is really cute and has so much appeal. It can be used against any colour background too.

    Blinds

I love the day and night blinds for a nursery to help keep the right amount of sunlight in the room whilst being able to make it darker for naps and in the evening. Nursery blinds are a really nice touch, they look really stylish and there are lots of gorgeous styles available too. We already have blinds throughout our flat including a black out blind in Evie’s room which really helped her get to sleep through the summer when she was younger.

    Furnishings

As I said I really like white or even shabby chic style furnishings for a nursery using rainbow patterns to enhance the colour around the room. I don’t know what it is about white furnishings really as I know they can get dirty really quickly but they’re just the ideal choice for me and it’s something I’ve always wanted.

    Floor

I would really love to have white distressed looking floorboards with fluffy coloured rugs. I think this would add a really nice touch of colour and be easy to keep clean and sweep up.

What would you love to have in your baby nursery? Any top design tips to share?

  • Evie’s Bedroom Makeover – Part 2

We have gradually been trying to improve Evie’s room. By improve I mean throw away a lot of old toys that do not work and do not get played with. This has been a big success and we’ve now got a nice big toy storage unit to keep everything together. Everything now has a proper place and the room is, most of the time, pretty easy to keep tidy. I say pretty easy, but children are very good at making a big mess out of not a lot of stuff!

New bedding has really helped make the room look like a new room and we recently received this gorgeous set of Owl bedding set from Room to Grow. It’s a single duvet cover and pillow case which goes really nicely with her pink and cream (well, magnolia) walls. I love the cute Owl design and think it’s pretty age appropriate now that she is 7! The bedding feels really nice and has buttons to do it up in the end rather than poppers. I usually prefer poppers because making beds is something I want to get over and done with but the buttons are nice and big and can be done up very quickly.

Evie still has a lot of soft toys which I’m kind of reluctant to get rid of because she really does play with them all. I think we might have to say goodbye to a few of the more threadbare or opening at the seams ones though because, well, she has about 500 of them. Honestly, soft toys are such a popular thing with Evie. She is currently collecting the little Disney Tsum Tsums which are super cute. I’m glad we’ve had a good sort out, especially with Christmas coming up. She now has so much more space in her tiny box room and now I have a much better idea of the toys she actually loves to play with rather than stuff I think she’ll love to play with.

Disclaimer: We were sent a single set of bedding in exchange for this feature. All opinions are my own.
